April is Fair Housing Month | How Certain Issues Affect Nevada County CA

Did you know that April is Fair Housing month?  In 9 days, on April 11, 2018, it will mark the 50th year since President Lyndon Johnson signed the Fair Housing act of 1968.  What does the The Fair Housing Act mean for Placer County and Nevada County CA residence?  It ensures equal housing for everyone, regardless of their color, disability, familial status, national origin, race, religion or sex.  

As a member of the National Association of Realtors (NAR), California Association of Realtors (CAR), and our local Placer County Association of Realtor (PCAOR) and Nevada County Association of Relators (NCAOR), we take a commitment as a Realtor to fight for property owner rights and protect tenant’s rights.  

Next week, on April 11th, the Barrett Property Management Team will be traveling together to Sacramento CA to attend the National Association of Residential Property Managers (NARPM) Fair Housing Certification Course.  We are committed to not only our Auburn, Grass Valley, Nevada City and Colfax CA Investment Property Owners, but to our Tenants as well.  

CAR published a great information article in their March/April 2018 California Real Estate magazine titled, Six Common Fair Housing Issues.  One topic mentioned, marijuana, is cited in two of the six issues they present.  Marijuana greatly affects Nevada County.  The topic of marijuana in Nevada County has easily become one of the biggest front page stories in awhile.  You can read the full article from CAR below.
